About Karen Stark
In my "previous lives" I was an elementary school teacher, an administrative secretary, and a landlady who did the cleaning and the painting. One summer I picked up a watercolor brush, and now I paint in a whole new way. I was captured by the flow of water and color on paper. Acrylics on canvas have been added to my repertoire along with my beloved watercolors. I have studied with world famous artists such as Tom Lynch, Lian Zhen, Judy Morris, Bev Jozwiak, and Charles Reid. I have been the featured artist and had two solo shows in Pacific Northwest galleries. I am an award winning artist, and my work has been featured in magazines and newspapers. Framed pieces hang in homes across the United States and around the world. ...

Bruce Combs - REACH BEYOND
Hi, Karen, I'm glad for your well-deserved print sale today (didn't they pick a wonderful complementing frame setting!), because that is what brought me here to your lovely gallery. I appreciate most all of your paintings. And I love the use of your personal colors -- such as the blue in THE VINEYARD. You have been blessed to travel a lot and paint, I see. I grew up around Portland, Oregon and spent some time there afterward, so you might guess that the Columbia Gorge on both sides of the river is one of my favorite places. There are so many other waterfalls, and trails that folow each one, I think, way back and up the mountains for about 8 miles. I chose to write under this painting because it appeals to me for its historical value of my youth when we made "hot rods" from cars not yet in quite this bad shape! Well, Keren, all best wishes with your painting and everything else you do. Peace, etc., Bruce
